Botofago şu an mali olarak büyük kriz yaşıyor. Danilo çok yetenekli oyuncu olması ile birlikte PL'ye gitmiş tutunamamış bir oyuncu. Yani 40 milyon verilmez ama 25-30 civarına alınabilir oyuncu. Botofago'nun acil paraya ihtiyacı var diye biliyorum bence gerçekten ilgilensek o fiyatı 30'a çeker satarlar. Benzer paraya Joao Gomes'i tercih ederim ben daha istikrarlı.

Kendisi ilk transferimiz olabilir gibi hissiyatım var. Gerçi benim hissiyatım doğru çıkmıyor özellikle transferlerde. Orta sahaya hissiyatım Ederson veya Reijnders'ti mesela tutmadı gibi.

Bilenen oyuncu oyuncu zaten. Milli takımda daha önce 20 milyona Forrest'a gitmişti oradan 23 milyona aldı Botofago. Lakin kendileri şu an büyük mali sıkıntıda sahipleri iflas eşiğinde olduğu için 25-30'a alınabilir bence.

His dream has now truly become a reality. When Carlo Ancelotti read out the 26 names going to the World Cup with Brazil, Danilo Santos was a name that might have raised a few eyebrows here and there, entirely in Ancelotti style. For the 25-year-old Danilo from Botafogo, who had only received a call-up once four years earlier: what kind of footballer is that?
Danilo is a modern midfielder who can play as a 6, 8, and 10. Tireless as he is, it is not surprising that he sees N'Golo Kanté as his greatest source of inspiration. “I can still remember a match from when Danilo was thirteen,” Freitas proves his greatest strength with an anecdote. (Freitas is a football coach and also part of Os Deguinhos da Bol , a project that uses football to help underprivileged youth.)
It ended in a draw and then we had to go into extra time. Danilo played so well and provided two assists in overtime. His father begged me to take him off because he was too tired. But Danilo didn't want to. After the match, he had to help his son off the field because he no longer had the strength to walk.
Compared to, for example, Neymar, Vinicius Júnior, and Endrick, Danilo is a late bloomer by Brazilian standards. What he needed as a teenager was a coach who believed in him and saw something in him that was missing at Bahia. He found that, too, in the person of Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
Luxemburgo, formerly head coach of Real Madrid, was in charge of Palmeiras in 2020. “Do you know how I discovered Danilo?” he recounts in an interview with Jovem Pan . “During a training match between the Under-20s and the reserves, he immediately caught my attention: a left-footed lad who won the ball all over the pitch.”
One thing in particular struck me: he never played the ball sideways or backwards, only forwards. He controlled the ball and sped up the game. I thought: who is this player? So I inquired about him. They told me that he played occasionally, but that he was behind Patrick de Paula in the pecking order.
“I replied: behind Patrick? He is better than him. People thought I was crazy, because Patrick was considered the star of the team. But I was convinced.” Luxemburgo promoted the midfielder to the first team almost immediately, where he gave him his chance gradually.
“I realized that he had enormous potential. I said even back then that Brazil produced very few midfielders who had the qualities to go to a World Cup. But Danilo had strength, personality, and game intelligence. He already showed then that he could go very far.”
Under the next coach, Abel Ferreira, Danilo experiences his real breakthrough. The Portuguese head coach takes a chance on Danilo. With Danilo as the backbone of the team, Ferreira's Palmeiras grows into one of the best teams in recent Brazilian history.
With two Copa Libertadores (the South American equivalent of the Champions League), a national title, a Copa do Brasil, a Recopa Sudamericana, and a Campeonato Paulista, Palmeiras' trophy cabinet is filling up nicely. Moreover, Danilo earns a call-up to the Brazilian national team for the first time. It will be a trial run, however, as he won't be playing.
His excellent form, however, stands out in Europe. Ultimately, it is Nottingham Forest that wins the battle for his coveted signature. The Tricky Trees make Danilo Palmeiras' sixth most expensive sale ever by paying twenty million euros.
Danilo quickly became popular in Nottingham as well, among coaches, teammates, and the fans. The cheerful footballer is regularly serenaded to the tune of Spandau Ballets' Gold. 'Danilo-o' embraces the song eagerly. “When the fans started singing that song, I didn't know it. But now I play it constantly in my car. I really think it's a great song. It makes me feel at home here.”
It is all the more painful that Danilo suffers a terrible ankle fracture in 2024, in the seventh minute of a brand-new Premier League season. It is a gruesome sight to see large tarpaulins carried onto the pitch to shield the severity of the injury. Danilo loses his place at Forest and changes course.
He returned to his homeland, to Botafogo. It looks like a somewhat shady transfer, given the relationship between club owners John Textor and Evangelos Marinakis. The two own four clubs (Botafogo and Lyon, and Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos, respectively) that traded players between them nine times in three years.
For Danilo, however, there was a clear reason to return to Brazil. “It was very difficult, because I didn’t want to leave at all,” he tells GE about it . “I am at an age where I want to play in Europe, but due to a serious injury I lost my place.”
I also really wanted to turn things around at Forest, but there are some things you can't control in football. Moreover, I desperately wanted to go to the World Cup, and to be considered for that, I needed to get playing time.
At that time, Davide Ancelotti was working as a coach at Botafogo. “He called me to come to Botafogo and said that we would make history together,” Danilo recalls in conversation with UOL . The collaboration between the two was limited to one season, a year in which the midfielder was plagued by a hamstring injury.
This season, however, under a different manager, Danilo has really hit his stride. He has never had such a productive year: after twelve matches, the midfielder already stands at nine goals and two assists. This earns him another call-up in March, almost exactly four years after his last call-up for The Divine Canaries .
Now from Carlo Ancelotti, the father of his former Botafogo coach. “First it was the junior, and now it’s the father’s turn,” laughs Danilo. “The circle is complete.” Ancelotti is allowing him to play this time. After an excellent substitute appearance in his debut match against France, he gets to show what he can do from the start against Croatia.
Just before half-time, the moment Danilo has dreamed of arrives: after a wonderful move by Vinícius Júnior, he fires the ball fantastically into the top corner. Two months later, surrounded by his family, he waits with his whole body filled with tension: will Ancelotti take him to the World Cup after his first 95 minutes for Brazil?
Yes, so. Danilo bursts into tears. Emotions are coursing through his body once again. But uncertainty has given way to pride. “At the 2010 World Cup, I painted the streets and hung up flags.” And now he is going there himself.
