The national team goalkeeper was ill with corona in April and experienced a rather tough course.
National team doctor Ola Sand explains the situation for NTB:
- When Rune was admitted with covid-19 disease, he had bilateral pneumonia and a blood clot in a lung. There are serious complications after this disease.
- It was then proven that Rune had contracted a myocarditis. I think he will be completely well again, but he must take the time to help. I think it will be a few months, Sand says to NTB.
- If the inflammation had not been detected, it could have been risky to train hard for him, the doctor explains.
The goalkeeper veteran from Telemark will undergo further examinations, including an MRI scan of the heart, in Germany at the end of July.
Almenning Jarstein is most likely irrelevant for the national team's September matches against the Netherlands (home), Latvia (away) and Gibraltar (home).
