He offers nothing going forward but he deserves a lot of credit for his performance yesterday - up against Pogba, Carrick and Herrera he kept the midfield solid when paired with just Garcia - who wasn't going to make a huge defensive contribution .
He was a very physical presence in midfield and made a few tackles on Pogba which resulted in the worlds most expensive player sprawled on the floor while Fernando ran away with the ball.
In possession he didn't create anything - but he wasn't sloppy and didn't lose it or misplace passes, just did his job - win the ball, move it on to a creative player. Always made himself available for a pass if someone was under pressure too.
I'm not worried when I see him on the teamsheet anymore. I don't think I'll ever be excited to see him play, but he's solid.
